Human Design Basics

The nine centers

The centers form the functional nodes of the BodyGraph. Your definition shows where energy and consciousness work comparatively consistently - and where a person is open to influence, reinforcement, conditioning and possible wisdom.

Defined, undefined and completely open

A colored, defined center is connected to another center by a complete channel. Its functionality is part of its own, more permanent equipment. This does not automatically mean that it is lived consciously or “well” - defined energy can also have a conditioning effect on others.

A white, undefined center absorbs the corresponding energy from people and transits and can strengthen it. This is where typical non-self strategies arise, but at the same time differentiated perception and wisdom. A center without an activated gate is described as completely open; There is even a lack of a solid thematic anchor there. No condition is better or worse. Type, strategy and authority remain decisive for decisions.

Directly to the center

Head center - inspiration and mental pressure

The head center is a pressure center. It brings about inspiration, questions, doubts and the pressure to think about something. It is not a decision-making center: a question can be stimulating without having to be answered personally.

Defined: Inspiration and mental pressure follow a comparatively constant internal nature.

Undefined or open: Questions and mental pressure from others can be reinforced. The typical trap is trying to solve other people's problems or answer every question. Wisdom comes from discerning which inspiration deserves attention.

Ajna center - concepts and mental awareness

The Ajna processes information, forms concepts, opinions and perspectives. It organizes inspiration into mental patterns, but is also not a personal decision-making authority.

Defined: Thinking and concept formation have a more reliable structure; That doesn't mean always being right.

Undefined or open: Different perspectives can be accommodated flexibly. Conditioning is reflected in the pressure to appear certain, to defend an opinion or to convince others of one's own certainty.

Throat center - expression and manifestation

Numerous BodyGraph processes converge in the throat. It translates energy and consciousness into language, action and visible expression. How and when something is expressed depends on the channels connected.

Defined: There is a more consistent way of speaking or taking action, but not the obligation to talk all the time.

Undefined or open: Expression and attention depend more on the environment and being together. The non-self trap is speaking or acting to be noticed.

G Center - Identity, Love and Direction

The G Center stands for identity, direction and the different qualities of love. It describes less a mentally invented self-image than the lived direction of one's own form.

Defined: Identity and direction have a more constant quality, even if the path of life contains changes.

Undefined or open: Identity and direction can change with people and places. The environment is therefore particularly important. Conditioning is evident in the search for a solid identity, love or direction from others.

Heart/ego center - will, value and material world

The small heart or ego center is an engine for willpower, promises, competition, self-worth and the use of material resources. Willpower works in impulses and requires recovery.

Defined: Will and material drive are more reliable, but not unlimited. Correct commitments are crucial.

Undefined or open: Other people's will is easily reinforced. The central trap is having to prove your own worth, overpromise or constantly compete. Intrinsic value needs no proof.

Sacral center - life and work force

The sacral center is a motor for life energy, work, sexuality, reproduction and regeneration. His physical response to what life specifically brings is the mechanical basis of the generator strategy.

Defined: Generators and Manifesting Generators have renewable sacral energy when they respond correctly to life and use the force appropriately.

Undefined or open: Sacral energy of others can be amplified. The trap is overwork and the lack of sense of when enough is really enough.

Solar plexus - emotion, desire and clarity over time

The solar plexus is both the engine and the center of consciousness. It moves emotional waves, sensitivity, desire, mood and social or intimate experiences. When defining emotionally, clarity does not arise in the moment.

Defined: Your own wave takes time; neither high nor low offers complete clarity on its own.

Undefined or open: Feelings of others are absorbed and often reinforced. The typical conditioning is to avoid confrontation and truth to prevent emotional turmoil.

Spleen center - instinct, intuition and survival

The spleen is a center of awareness of the immediate now. Their signals involve instinct, intuition, taste, well-being, immune system and perception of what might be safe or healthy. Their cue is quiet and not necessarily repetitive.

Defined: Spleen consciousness operates in a more consistent individual manner.

Undefined or open: Fears and well-being of others may be heightened. The non-self trap consists of holding on to people, things or habits even though they are no longer good because the familiar seems to provide security.

Root center - stress, adrenaline and drive

The root is pressure center and engine. It creates adrenaline, stress and the drive to start, continue or complete processes. Pressure is a natural life energy, but not automatically a signal for immediate action.

Defined: Dealing with pressure follows a more consistent rhythm.

Undefined or open: External stress can be greatly increased. The typical trap is haste – doing things hastily just to relieve the pressure. Wisdom recognizes which pressure is productive and which is allowed to pass.
